The cream with the mycro-crytals, when massaged on an area of skin, help to exfoliate the skin or to resurface it, very much like what is done by dermatological procedures such as dermabrasion, chemical peels and laser resurfacing. Only it can be done by yourself in the comfort of your home.

The microcrystals are Corundum (Aluminium oxide).

This is the second hardest natural mineral known to science (next to diamonds). It is an inert substance and it is insoluble in water and organic substances. Its melting point is 2000 degrees centigrade. It is non-carcinogenic and non-toxic for ingestion. These properties make corundum a more excellent substance for exfoliation compared to alternatives like sugar, salt, sea salt (magnesium oxide) or baking soda (sodium bicarbonate).

Microdermabrasion evolved from a technique called dermabrasion. Dermabrasion has been around for decades and was used to treat severe scarring by polishing the uppermost surface of the skin with an abrasive, metallic attachment. Skin Remodeling is the Key to Scar Reduction
The removal or reduction of scars, lesions, and stretch marks from the skin depends on a process called "skin remodeling". The skin is designed to heal wounds quickly to prevent blood loss and infection. Scars are manufactured from a rapidly formed "collagen glue" that the body deposits into an injured area for protection and strength. In ideal skin healing, wounded skin is rapidly closed, while the healed area is slowly reconstructed to remove the residual collagen scars and blend the skin area into nearby skin.

Scar collagen is removed and replaced with a mixture of skin cells and invisible collagen fibers. This skin remodeling may continue in a skin area for ten years.
